Studio Egret West

David West is an urban designer with nearly 30 years of experience in urban visions, strategic frameworks, and site specific place interventions.

After spending formative years at Atkins and Alsop, David co-founded Studio Egret West with Christophe Egret in 2004. Over the last 20 years he has led this transdisciplinary design practice, blending architecture, urban design and landscape architecture. David has overseen many of Studio Egret West’s award-winning projects, bringing a well-considered and innovative approach to numerous complex sites across the UK and abroad, ranging from large-scale urban regeneration developments to edge of centre communities - both old and new. Places that David has helped shape include Earls Court, Smithfield, Eastwick and Sweetwater, New Bermondsey, Lewisham, and The Old Vinyl Factory in London; Mayfield and Holt Town in Manchester; Digbeth and Arden Cross in Birmingham; Southbank in Bratislava - just to name a few. The symbiosis of architecture, landscape and urbanism, strategy with specificity, storytelling, sustainability. serendipity and soul: These are some of the core concepts that David has embedded into the work of a firm that is contributing to the multi-layered, transformation of cities around the world.
